Low Fat Nasi Lemak

Yea-yea, I am back with more foodie to make you guys crazy.
It's my job...maaa..to make you feel hungry..
What is Low Fat Nasi Lemak?
I have no idea, actually about the scientific facts but instead to coconut milk (santan) just change it with ordinary milk.
It's not going to be original but don't worry about the taste.
It's still going to be as good as original nasi lemak with coconut milk.
The rice preparation should be the same but the herbs and vege should be fried separately then only mix into rice cooker and cook.
The secret to make your nasi lemak to be good until the last grain is the sambal.
How to make a sambal with good balance of spicy, sour and sweet?
How to make your sambal become so shining?
The secret is simply be generous in your cooking.
Put a large amount of Indian Onions, it will make your sambal taste naturally sweet.
Choose the right type of dried chillies to avoid uncontrolled spiciness.
Cook your sambal until the blended dried chilly become evenly cooked and settled (pecah minyak)
There you go, the rest of the steps are no secret to you guys.
I have just exposed some trade secrets here.....

Look at the color and texture of sambal ikan bilis.

Hard boiled eggs nice to be served together beside sambal ikan bilis. (local anchovy)

Nasi Kerabu Terbaek di Pulau Pinang (Info Tambahan)

Tadi aku pi beli nasi kerabu kat Taman Robina.
Link terdahulu tentang post ini: Nasi Kerabu Terbaek di Pulau Pinang
Nasi kerabu terbaek kat Penang dan seluruh kawasan utara (aku bagi rank ni)
Tokey dia En Jamil yang berbudi bahasa bagi nombor telefon dia;
012- 591 7502
Katanya bolehlah call dulu, order, datang ambil kemudian.
Bukannya apa, kadang-kadang habis awal.

Harga murah sangat. (From RM1.00)
Harga nasi kerabu RM 2.50.
Harap info ni dapat membantu peminat nasi kerabu Taman Robina, Teluk Air Tawar, Butterworth.

Good Old Kway Teow T'hng

To those who are new to Penang Hokkein Food, let me introduce you to Kway Teow T'hng (soup).
Its not so hard to get halal one nowadays.
Famous as a breakfast meal but most people have it for lunch and dinner as well.
Recently my chef at home cooked this fabulous local delicacy.
It has been quiet some time since I ate homemade Kway Teow T'hng.

Garnishing and condiments for Kway Teow T'hng, spring onions, fish cakes, roasted garlic, small green chillies in soya sauce.

Good old Kway Teow T'hng, local comfort food not only for the local Chinese but to all 1Malaysia.

See how nice and tender the chicken, result of low heat simmering.

Fish cake and fish ball are the correct combination for this delicious clear soup.

Roasted garlic to complement the aromatic soup together with green chillies blended with soya sauce. This is how to balance up the sweet and spicy soup.

Arghhh!!! I could easily take 3 bowl in a row because I love it so much. Credit to my chef at home!! (Bodek nampak)

After a nice Kway Teow T'hng encounter, there were fresh fruits to settle down the heat.
Refreshing!!

Nasi Kandar Pelita, Chai Leng Park Branch, Prai, Penang.

Now it's time for me to review the famous Pelita Nasi Kandar original outlet in Chai Leng Park, Prai, Penang.
I have been frequenting this outlet since 1996.
To me, this outlet is the best among all Pelita's branches.
The 1st outlet of Pelita Nasi Kandar, Chai Leng Park, Prai, Penang.

Don't forget to reduce the rice portion. The new worker fresh from Tamil Nadu tend to scope a big portion of rice matching to their standard of portion back home. The fried fish coated with special herbs was nicely done, crispy and fresh. Fried cabbage South Indian style. The most important; mix gravy ('kuah campur')

Chicken Tandoori Set. Just the right taste, soft bread, tender and juicy chicken. This was the best Tandoori Set among all Pelita's branches.

Another temptation, nasi kandar, fish curry with okra @ ladyfinger and mixed gravy.

If you want to tone down the spicy food, don't forget to order fresh lemonade.

Canned Lychee drink just incase you love something sweeter.

This branch will be fully packed during lunch time due to nearby industrial area, offices and business premises. Nearest landmarks are Pearl View Hotel, Prai Megamall and Sony Sports Center.

Padang Brown, The Best 'Eat All You Can' Spot in Penang

Recently we went to Padang Brown for 'makan-makan'.
This is one of my favorite 'eat all you can' spot in Penang.
Cheap and original, where Penang people go to eat with their family.
There are abundant of choice, you name it, they got it.
Pasembur, Mee Mamak, Yong Tau Fu, Satay, Ais Kacang, just to name a few.

Nizam Corner, stall number 57 (last stall) selling the famous Penang's comfort food, Hokkien (prawn) Mee, Curry Mee and Koay Teow Th'ng (soup)

The stall worker preparing Hokkein Prawn Mee.

The stall owner, Nizam, need to be persuaded for a photo shot. He such a 'manmathan' himself, 'Nalla jokar'. I wonder where did he learnt the secret Hokkien recipes.

The original Penang Hokkein Prawn Mee. Yellow noodle, vermicelli (bihun), beansprouts, kangkung, hard boiled egg, fish ball, fish cake and fresh prawns in a seafood broth. RM 3.00 per bowl. My rank: 4/5 stars.

The other Nizam (my brother in-law) having good time enjoying his prawn mee. (on the house) The owner insisted not to charge the 1st bowl as a promotion drive. Nice ya! Aesya looking at her uncle 'makan' so sedap, meh sikit!

This is mine. The one and only, Koay Teow Th'ng. Flat rice noodle (koay teow), chicken meat, fish ball, fish cake, spring onions in a clear chicken soup. Simply steaming and delicous. My favorite Penang food. RM 3.00 per bowl. My rank: 4/5 stars.

Stall number 54, AR. Firdaus Cafe. Selling the best Ais Kacang, Coconut, Shake, Milk Shake, Markisa Coconut and many more. The green sentence says " Be a thankful human being and loyal to Allah". Indeed a useful reminder to all of us.

What an inviting stall setting. You will feel thirsty by looking at the advertisement photos.

This is the famous Coconut Markisa. Some sort of non-alcoholic cocktail. Nicely mixed and balance. Something new to me but I quickly like it.

Green apple juice, fresh and thirst quenching.

This is the signature drink of  AR. Firdaus Cafe, Milo (Chocolate) Shake. You cannot stop sipping once started. Wow, entirely different sensation. I have no idea Milo Shake can be so nice. I highly recommend you guys to try this one. Simply amazing, you'll be asking for more.

We ordered satay out of curiosity. The beef satay was very delicious indeed. Tender and melting. The sauce was quite different but still nice. I didn't get the stall number but it was near to the AR. Firdaus Cafe.
